UK and Mid Atlantic Trade Show Blog

The 6Storage team has been traveling near and far this spring! In the last two weeks, they traveled to the UK and to Maryland to share 6Storage’s software with the self storage industry. Keep reading for a full recap of Tyler’s experience in Maryland, and Michelle, Jessika, and Alyssa’s experience in the UK!

Self Storage Association UK Conference

The UK conference is always a fun one! The 6Storage team feels like they know and understand the U.S. market really well, but there is always a lot to learn when venturing to a new country and their market. In order to better understand the UK’s processes and ways of doing business, the team attended more of the learning sessions than they typically would at a U.S. conference.

After her visit to Chennai, India to meet with our development team, Michelle arrived in Birmingham first. Jessika arrived next, coming from Missouri, and Alyssa flew in from Los Angeles. The conference began on Tuesday, May 16th. Michelle, Jessika, and Alyssa set up their booth early that morning, had breakfast and attended the welcome session. As a part of the welcome session we heard marketing tips and best practices from Mr and Mrs Smith founder and CEO James Lohan. It was interesting to hear him compare the hotel industry with the storage industry and provide his insights on how to market and run a successful business.

After the welcome session, the team went back to the booth to meet with and talk to potential customers. On both Tuesday and Wednesday, the 6Storage team bounced from various learning sessions to meeting with people at their booth. They met a lot of new potential customers and connected with new vendors they had not met before. The 6Storage team was blown away by how popular shipping container storage is in the UK, and they plan to optimize the container storage portion of 6Storage’s software even further to better facilitate our customers with this type of unit.

Coming out of the trade show, the team is excited to reach out to the leads that they connected with and see if 6Storage is the right fit for them when it comes to managing their business. While we have a lot of competition when it comes to software providers in the UK, the team thinks our product offers great features at the right price.

Multiple leads told us they were most impressed by 6Storage’s software and that alone is exciting to hear!

Mid-Atlantic Self Storage Conference

Tyler attended this show solo! Tyler arrived in Maryland Wednesday evening and got familiar with the area. The National Harbor area was a really beautiful area and the location of the Trade Show looked right over the bay. Thursday morning the trade show ran from 10AM-1PM, and from the beginning, Tyler had attendees at the booth ready for information. They loved our coffee mugs and T-shirts that we had to give out, and he ran out of merchandise before 1pm. The trade show took a break after 1pm and started again from 5PM-7PM with a happy hour for drinks and snacks.

Friday morning the trade show went from 7:30 AM-10 AM. Breakfast was provided and Tyler socialized with other vendors. A few attendees stopped by for additional information from the day before, and Tyler grabbed a handful of leads who wanted live demos.

Tyler’s greatest take away and learnings from this show is that it’s clear 6Storage is growing and becoming well known in the industry. Many people who stopped by the booth said that they have been hearing more about 6Storage, which piqued their interest in all the products 6Storage’s software has to offer.

There were quite a few third party management companies that stopped by to compare 6Storage to what they are currently using to manage large numbers of properties. Also, a few attendees that were new to the industry stopped by to ask questions, and they really liked that 6Storage is user friendly and modernized.

Tyler is most excited about how the word of 6Storage is spreading. The trade shows have been great exposure for the business, and he can tell many people are happy that 6Storage is here to offer a great product that competes with services that the software industry already offers.
